Paula Perotte has served over 7 years on Goleta’s city council. Currently she is the mayor, a position to which she has been appointed 3 times by her fellow council member.
Mayor Perotte currently serves as the City of Goleta’s primary representative to the following organizations:
- Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District (MTD)
- Chair of the South Coast Affordable Housing Task Force
- Home For Good
- Chair South Coast Task Force on Youth Safety
She also serves on the following City Council committees:
- City Hall Facilities Standing Committee
- Grant Funding Review Standing Committee
- Energy/Green Issues Standing Committee
- Naming Standing Committee
- Library Ad Hoc Committee
- Legislative Issues Committee
Mayor Perotte has been a long-time advocate for children. She was a Parent Partner Coordinator at the Community Action Commission of Santa Barbara County, helping parents of special needs children obtain services for their children. She has also been involved in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at the local, regional and state level for more than 15 years. Her committee work has included service on the Community Concerns Commission; the Special Needs Committee; the Safe Routes to School National and State Partnership; Strategic Highway Safety Plan Pedestrian safety focus group; and the Teenage Driver Committee.
In addition, Mayor Perotte served on Santa Barbara County’s KIDS Network from 2006-2009 and on the First 5 Advisory Board from 2004-2006. From 2000-2004 she worked with the Santa Barbara Area Safety Committee. She was instrumental in successfully advocating for the passage of state laws increasing fines in school zones, reducing speed limits, and extending the school zones.
Mayor Perotte has been an engaged resident of Goleta for 35 years where she and her husband Peter, a Goleta native, raised their two, now-adult daughters. She now takes great delight in her role as grandmother to Colton and Dakota.
